Patricia Alejo, CFA, CAIA
Organization: Inter-American Development Bank (IDM)


Patricia has recently joined the Investments Team of the Inter-American Development Bank -IDB- as an Investment Officer, responsible for managing the corporates and banks portfolio, as well as leading the ESG implementation, among other Asset Management and Advisory projects of the bank. Previously, Patricia worked as a Senior Investment Officer of Pontificia Universidad Javeriana for more than 10 years, accountable for the asset allocation, execution and monitoring of the university endowment, identifying the best investment opportunities, and performing manager selection activities. In addition, Patricia headed the ESG efforts of the endowment since 2019, developing practices and procedures included in all the investments and due diligence processes. Ms. Alejo’s former experience includes risk management at a multilateral institution focused on foreign reserves management for some Latin-American countries, and she also worked at the Colombian Ministry of Finance. Ms. Alejo holds a BS in Finance from Universidad Externado de Colombia, plus postgraduate studies in Risk Management and executive education programs. Ms. Alejo’s main areas of expertise have been risk and portfolio management, particularly in Alternative Investments. In addition, Patricia is member of the board of the CFA Society Colombia and CAIA Latam Chapter Country Head of Colombia. Ms. Alejo is a CAIA and a CFA Charterholder.


John Bowman, CFA
Organization: CAIA Association


John serves as Executive Vice President for the CAIA Association, overseeing the industry leading CAIA charter, thought leadership and content development, and CAIA's Asia Pacific strategy. John has devoted over 20 years to the asset management industry to recover the narrative of the value that the investment profession bring to society. He is a staunch public advocate for market integrity, long-termism, investor outcomes, diversity, human dignity and educational standards, as necessary ingredients to building a sustainable and healthy profession. John previously served as Managing Director for the Americas for CFA Institute, a region comprised of 40+ countries from Canada, the U.S., Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Bowman joined CFA Institute in 2004 after holding several industry positions. He served as a portfolio manager at Mellon Growth Advisors (MGA), where he was responsible for portfolio construction and stock selection for the MGA International Growth and MGA Global Growth strategies. Bowman also served as a portfolio manager for the International Growth Opportunities Strategy at State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) in its Global Fundamental Strategies Group. John is a prolific writer and commentator, frequently appearing in industry and business publications such as the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Pension and Investments, Financial Advisor, The Independent, Wealthmanagement.com and CNBC. Bowman earned a BS in Business Administration from Mary Washington College and is a CFA charterholder.


Cameron Joyce
Organization: Preqin Ltd.


Cameron Joyce has 10 years of experience in the investment industry and is currently part of Preqin’s Research Insights team based in London. He previously worked on the international equity desk of one of the largest pension funds in Latin America where he managed a $5bn allocation to Emerging Market equities in Asia. Cameron later went on to work for a Vietnam based investment bank, writing investment research for global institutional clients. Cameron is also a CFA Charterholder and an Economics graduate from the University of Manchester.


Bill Kelly
Organization: CAIA Association


William (Bill) J. Kelly, CAIA is the President & CEO of the CAIA Association. Bill has been a frequent industry speaker, writer, and commentator on alternative investment topics around the world since taking the leadership role at the CAIA Association in January, 2014. Previously, Bill was the CEO of Boston Partners and one of seven founding partners of the predecessor firm, Boston Partners Asset Management which, prior to a majority interest being sold to Robeco Group in Rotterdam in 2002, was an employee-owned firm. Bill’s career in the institutional asset management space spans over 30 years where he gained extensive managerial experience through successive CFO, COO and CEO roles. In addition to his current role, Bill is a tireless advocate for shareholder protection and investor education and is currently the Chairman and lead independent director for the Boston Partners Trust Company. He has previously served as an independent director and audit committee chair for ’40 Act Mutual Funds and other financial services firms. He is also currently an Advisory Board Member of the Certified Investment Fund Director Institute which strives to bring the highest levels of professionalism and governance to independent fund directors around the world. A member of the board of the CAIA Association, Bill also represents CAIA in similar capacities via their global partnerships with other associations and global regulators. Bill began his career as an accountant with PwC and is a designated Audit Committee Financial Expert in accordance with SEC rules.


Daniel Mueller
Organization: Alpine Capital Advisors


Prior to co-founding the Latin American business of Alpine in 2015, Daniel worked for Moneda Asset Management, one of the largest independent Latin American investment managers based in Santiago, Chile, managing over USD $10bn for global institutional investors. He led Moneda’s fundraising efforts in Latin America to both institutional and private investors, successfully multiplying Moneda’s AUM in the region by over 4x in 4 years and opening several key markets for the firm. Additionally, while at Moneda he was responsible for the placement of investment funds for several third-party asset managers to Latin American investors. He began his career at Thomson Reuters in New York City, working in various sales & service roles mainly covering buy-side investment management and wealth management clients. He moved to Santiago, Chile in 2009 to lead Thomson Reuters’ commercial efforts there. Daniel graduated from Indiana University Kelley School of Business with a degree in Business Administration. Daniel is a CAIA Charterholder and actively works to promote the CAIA Association in the region.


Beny Schinazi
Organization: Pragma Patrimonio


Beny Schinazi has been at Pragma since 2009. He is co-responsible for selecting Public Equity managers in Emerging Markets. Before joining, Beny worked at UBS Pactual as a portfolio specialist. He received his BS in Production Engineering from Universidade de São Paulo (POLI-USP) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV/SP). Beny is a CFA®️ and CAIA®️ Charterholder.
