Real Estate: Market outlook, new opportunities and new developments Real estate; an important alternative investment asset class to understand for anyone who lives in a residential unit, works in an office space, shops in retail space or stays in a hotel while on vacation. In many countries, real estates have outperformed the traditional asset classes such as stocks and bonds and some even argue that real estate is the best hedge against inflation and the best investment and asset class. There are also many ways to get exposure to real estate: physical assets (residential, commercial, industrial and new sectors such as data centers), property stocks, REITs, and even digital assets through tokenization. Come and hear from our guest speakers; Victor Yeung will share his view on the latest developments in China's real estate market, the changing focus in REITs and the rise of alternative sectors. Andrew Haskins will provide his perspectives of the Asia Pacific market outside Hong Kong and China and Philip Pang will discuss the latest development in the tokenization of real estate. Andrew Haskins
Organization: Colliers International
Andrew joined Colliers as Executive Director, Research, Asia in February 2016. He is responsible for directing research output by over 40 staff across the regional offices, and is committed to delivering strategic, rigorous and actionable research to help Colliers' clients and business professionals make key commercial decisions.
Andrew has 30 years of experience – including 18 years in Asia – in property, equity and strategic research. He has worked with large investment banks including HSBC and Nomura around the world, and has covered numerous industrial and service sectors including real estate. He is skilled in rigorous, strategic analysis of regional and global trends and has deep expertise in accounting, financial forecasting and corporate valuation. Andrew has built and led successful teams in Asia, the Middle East and Europe, and has extensive experience of serving senior institutional clients around the world. He speaks English, Japanese and French.
Philip Pang
Organization: Colliers International
Philip is with Colliers International, advising multinational and local companies in all aspects of real estate, with a key focus on coworking, funds, and asset management occupiers. He’s also a mentor for Colliers TechStars PropTech Accelerator, a global initiative to develop and bring to market new Property Technologies, with a focus on Blockchain and Digitizing Real Estate Investments. Philip is also an Advisor to Genesis Block, a leading Digital Assets OTC trading centre and blockchain community builder in Hong Kong. He’s launched two start-ups which has been endorsed by Google Empowering Young Entrepreneurs Program, Hong Kong Cyberport CCMF Fund, and Esri Start-up Program.
Victor Yeung
Organization: Admiral Investment Limited
Victor Yeung currently serve as Admiral’s chief investment officer. Since 2018, Victor has also been appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Real Estate and Construction at the University of Hong Kong. Victor has also served as the Managing Director, Asia Pacific Securities with LaSalle Investment Management. Before that, Victor has worked for Morgan Stanley and American Express.
Victor was educated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), receiving Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees there. Since 2008, he has also lectured for various other industry and academic institutions.
Victor is the author of four books and writes regular columns for several news media in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. His Chinese book “A Complete Handbook of REITs” (投資房託全手冊) has won a publishing award at the Hong Kong Biennial Publishing Awards 2017. He is a co-host of a weekly stock analysis segment at Now TV’s Finance Channel.
