While many developing economies have already “emerged” for decades and been well covered by the international investment community, which other countries that are still at their early stage of growth can also provide promising opportunities? What are the challenges at the same time? Don’t miss this excellent chance to hear from practitioners who have been investing in various frontier markets in Asia and Africa with extensive firsthand experience.

Thomas Hugger: CEO of Asia Frontier Capital Ltd, a pioneering fund management company based in Hong Kong that specializes in investing in high growth Asian frontier economies by managing the AFC Asia Frontier Fund , AFC Iraq Fund and the AFC Vietnam Fund.

Theodore Qi Shou, CIO of Skybound Capital. The company is a global asset manager, with its headquarters in Cape Town, South Africa. The firm has been a specialist in alternative investment, across fund of hedge funds and private equity. Over a decade, it has grown to have over 100 employees, nearly US$ 1 billion in AuM and offices in London, Hong Kong, Mauritius and Bermuda.

Thomas Hugger
Organization: Asia Frontier Investments Limited
Thomas Hugger is the CEO and Fund Manager and has spent 27 years in private banking where he specialized in managing portfolios of listed and unlisted equities. He has been investing in Asian and African Frontier Markets since 1993. He is the former Managing Partner, CFO & COO of Leopard Capital; and was previously a Managing Director and Head of Portfolio Management at LGT Bank in Hong Kong. He also held senior investment positions at Bank Julius Baer in Zurich and Hong Kong. Mr. Hugger was the founding shareholder of one of the largest brokerage companies in Bangladesh. He is also a Certified Financial Investment Analyst (CFIA) and Investment Adviser (Switzerland) and a Certified European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS) Financial Analyst.
Qi Shou
Organization: Skybound Capital (HK) Limited
Theodore Shou is Chief Investment Officer of Skybound Capital Group. With a background in academia in China, Theodore Shou started his career lecturing economics in a Chinese university. Subsequently, Mr. Shou worked on investment roles at HSBC for 6 years, where he was mostly specialized in manager selection. He was stationed in London, New York, Geneva and Hong Kong. In 2010, he helped to found a family office in Hong Kong and was in charge of managing multi-asset portfolios there. A year later, Mr. Shou joined Skybound Capital to set up its Asian business. Mr. Shou holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Economics. He is a CFA charterholder and a CAIA charterholder. He also serves as a Chapter Executive at CAIA Hong Kong.
