Description:

"Invest with Impact"

Presented by CAIA Canada and PRMIA

What is and isn’t impact investing? What are the motivations that drive impact investment? Are there financial benefits? Despite increased demand and interest in impact investing, there is still a persistent confusion in this relatively new space.

Join us for an informative and engaging session with speakers from different segments of the impact investing world:

Jennifer So (BMO Global Asset Management) who co-manages BMO Women in Leadership Fund and leads the Canadian team's ESG initiatives.

Mike Winterfield (Active Impact Investments), a Top 40 under 40 with 20 years of experience in the tech industry. His company invests in small private companies that solve an important social or environmental problem and provides post-investment support.

Margie Parikh (Oikocredit Canada), serves on the boards of various organizations. Oikocredit is a social impact investor and worldwide cooperative, with decades of experience in promoting sustainable development through investments with the goal of improving the quality of life of low-income people.

The session will clarify some of the misconceptions and cover topics such as:
• Impact Investing vs. Responsible Investing
• Common and not-so-common themes
• Approaches: active/passive; public/private; equity/debt
• For-profit impact investments
• Opportunities and Risks

Jennifer and Mike will also go into a further discussion on their approach and process.
Margie will tell us more about their global projects, their partners and how to get involved.
