Description:

Emerging Markets in Asia and Non-performing Loans in China
January 15, 2020

Join CAIA Vancouver at the EXchange Hotel (in the original Stock Exchange Building)!

Our speakers will discuss the current investment environment in Asian emerging markets and share contrasting perspectives on equity and credit opportunities in China.

Christine Tan (Sun Life Global Investments) will give us an overview of the emerging markets in Asia and China’s role. She will also share insights on the opening of the financial sector for offshore investors, geopolitical risks, and top growth sectors such as financials, consumer products, technology and healthcare.

Avery Colcord (CarVal Investors) will walk us through the history of the credit markets in China and share insights on how investors can capitalize on the current deleveraging. Progress has been made in de-risking China’s financial system but the amount of distressed assets remains elevated. CarVal, an alternative investment manager focused on distressed and credit sensitive assets, is one of the earliest and largest foreign investors in Chinese non-performing loans.
