Guillermo Cano
Organization: Morgan Stanley Capital International, Inc. (MSCI)


Guillermo is Executive Director within MSCI’s Equity Applied Research Team. He is responsible for working with asset owners on factor, ESG, and global investing strategies. Prior to joining MSCI, Guillermo held several roles at FTSE Russell including most recently as Director of Alternatively Weighted Indexes. In this role, he worked closely with asset owners and managers on the analysis and implementation of factor and risk-weighted indexes. During his 13 years at FTSE Russell, Guillermo led the development of a comprehensive suite of products including the High Efficiency Defensive Indexes and the High Efficiency Factor Indexes. These index products are used for benchmarking and passive replication by some of the world’s largest asset owners. He started his career at J.P. Morgan Chase Capital Markets in New York City where he was responsible for trading, order management, and settlement of multi-asset portfolios. Guillermo holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Washington and a BA in Music and Business Administration from the University of Miami.


Jennifer Coulson
Organization: British Columbia Investments


Jennifer Coulson has worked in the financial services industry for 17 years. She began her career in the mutual fund business working for a national firm that specializes in responsible investing solutions. As a senior member of the Public Markets Department at BCI she now oversees Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risk analysis for portfolio companies; engages with companies to manage ESG risk; develops public policy submissions on ESG matters of broad relevance to the investment industry; and oversees the proxy voting program. Jennifer has an undergraduate degree in Environment & Resource Management from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University. She has attained the Institute of Corporate Directors designation (ICD.D); serves on the PIAC Investor Stewardship Committee; the 30% Club of Canada Steering Committee; and the Investment Advisory Committee for the University of Victoria Student Investment Fund.


Jason Landau
Organization: Waratah Capital Advisors


Jason joined Waratah Capital Advisors in 2010 and is a shareholder as well as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Jason manages all energy sector investing at Waratah, and is the Lead Portfolio Manager on the Waratah Alternative ESG Fund. Waratah Capital Advisors is a Toronto-based asset manager that specializes in alternative strategies. As of January 1st, 2019, Waratah manages over $1.4 billion in assets from high net worth individuals, family offices, foundations, Canadian bank platforms, and pension funds. Prior to Waratah, Jason worked at TD Securities as an Associate in Investment Banking and Equity Capital Markets. During his time at TD, Jason was involved in domestic mergers and acquisitions, as well as the structuring and pricing of equity securities, convertible debentures, and preferred shares. Jason received an Honours Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.


Jason Milne
Organization: ESG Global Advisors Inc.


Jason has more than 20 years’ experience in the investment industry in Canada. Having specialized in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and responsible investment for over 15 years, Jason is a frequent speaker and well-regarded authority on all matters relating to ESG. ​ Before joining ESG Global Advisors, Jason was V.P. and a member of RBC Global Asset Management’s (“RBC GAM”) Corporate Governance and Responsible Investment Group, the team responsible for promoting the integration of ESG into the investment process, proxy voting and engagement with investee companies. He joined Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management in 2000, became the Corporate Governance Analyst soon after, and moved into the responsible investment role in 2008 when PH&N was acquired by RBC GAM. Prior to this, Jason had worked in the corporate finance department of a national brokerage firm and as a mutual fund accountant. ​ Jason was the Chair of the board of the Responsible Investment Association (RIA) for four years and a board member since 2011, prior to stepping down in 2019. Jason also currently sits on the board of Open Door Ventures, the for-profit subsidiary of the not-for-profit Open Door Group. Jason is a CFA® charterholder, holds a CPA, CGA designation and a BComm (Economics) from the University of Otago in New Zealand. In addition, Jason has his SASB, FSA Credential Level I and is a FSA Credential Level II candidate.


Andrew Sweeney
Organization: RBC Asset Management, Inc.


Andrew Sweeney, CPA, CA, CFA is an institutional portfolio manager at PH&N specialized in broad-based mandates with a focus on the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors in institutional portfolios. He is a thought leader on ESG developments in the industry and, as a CFA charterholder, is an advocate for ESG analysis in investing. Since entering the industry in 1995, Andrew has held analytical research responsibilities for most sectors within the Canadian equity market and, as a result, has acquired a strategic, long-term outlook on capital market dynamics.


Mark Webster
Organization: BMO Global Asset Management


With over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mark has covered many diverse forms of financial risk. He began his career as a professional indemnity broker, becoming a Vice President at Minet International Professional Indemnity Ltd. (now part of AON), conducting risk analysis for the Big 8 global accounting firms, as well as some of the top U.S. law firms. He is responsible for Institutional efforts in Western Canada, working with Asset Owners, Asset Managers, Investment Counselling firms and Consultants. Mark has worked with asset managers and with pension providers, bringing a wide perspective to the Institutional area. He has a Master’s degree in Russian History from McGill University and several industry accreditations.
