Thomas Deinet
Organization: Standards Board for Alternative Investments (SBAI)


Thomas Deinet was appointed Executive Director of the Hedge Fund Standards Board (HFSB) in September 2008. In 2007, Thomas joined the Hedge Fund Working Group to project manage the development of practice standards proposed by a group of 14 leading hedge fund managers that led to the establishment of the HFSB. Before joining the HFSB, Thomas was a senior manager at Oliver Wyman, a management consulting firm, where he extensively worked with major financial institutions in Europe in both asset management as well as corporate and investment banking. He joined Oliver Wyman in 2002 after working as an analyst in energy trading for a major commodities trading firm. Thomas is a regular speaker at hedge fund and regulatory conferences, and represents the HFSB at the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). He is a holder of a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany and an MSc from Purdue University, USA. Thomas Deinet is a CFA charterholder.


Gerard Fitzpatrick


Gerard Fitzpatrick is Senior Executive Leader, Investment Managers and Superannuation at the ASIC. He is responsible for the regulation of fund management, custodial services and conduct and disclosure requirements for superannuation funds. Other responsibilities include an active international agenda, particularly through IOSCO's Committee on Investment Management and in the development of the Asia Region Funds Passport, and the regulation of emerging innovative business models such as Crowd-Sourced Funding and Marketplace Lending. Prior to joining ASIC, he was General Manager, Policy & Government Relations with the Financial Planning Association of Australia, dealing with a range of issues including superannuation, investment, credit and margin lending. He is a former Secretary General of the Institutional Money Market Funds Association and International Policy Adviser for the Investment Management Association in London. Gerard’s previous career includes prudential supervision, economic and market surveillance and international strategy and policy at the UK Financial Services Authority and the Bank of England.


David George
Organization: Future Fund


David George is the Head of Debt & Alternatives at the Future Fund, based in Melbourne, Australia. David joined the Future Fund in April 2008 and leads a team responsible for strategy development and implementation of the debt, cash and public market alternative investment programs for each of the Future Fund, Medical Research Future Fund, DisabilityCare Australia Fund, Building Australia Fund and Education Investment Fund. Prior to joining the Future Fund, David was a Principal at Mercer Investment Consulting in Sydney focused on researching managers in the fixed income and alternatives areas. Previously he has held management and analytical roles at Mercer in Toronto, the Royal Bank of Canada and Integra Capital Management. David is currently a Trustee of the Hedge Fund Standards Board.


Emily Gordon

Emily Gordon is the Head for Australia and New Zealand at Bloomberg LP, the world's most trusted source for real-time and historical financial data, news, research and analytics. Ms. Gordon joined Bloomberg in 2009 in San Francisco where she managed client relationships with the company's major customers on the U.S. West Coast. In 2011, she moved to Sydney to manage Bloomberg's business with the banks and brokers in Australia. In her current role, Emily is responsible for the successful execution of the office's overall strategy across Bloomberg's suite of products. She is committed to bringing transparency and innovation to local markets and servicing the evolving needs of the financial community. Emily began her career with Fisher Investments, a large investment advisory firm headquartered in San Francisco. She holds a BA in Communications and Business Administration from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.


Richard Lowther


Richard Lowther is Chief Operating Officer at Hiscox Re Insurance Linked Strategies Ltd, a US$ 1.25bn ILS fund manager within global specialty insurance group, Hiscox Ltd (LSE: HSX). Richard joined Hiscox in early 2014 to help develop the group’s ILS fund management platform. In this role he oversees the Bermuda ILS team and day-to-day operations of the Manager, including the build-out of critical areas of the governance, valuation, investor diligence, transparency and reporting processes. Prior to joining Hiscox, Richard was the COO of the Validus Reinsurance Ltd ILS platform, AlphaCat Managers Ltd, since its formation in 2008 where he oversaw the process of becoming a signatory to the Hedge Fund Standards in 2013. Richard is a Chartered Accountant and holds a BA in Economics from the University of Victoria, Canada.


Sidney Ma
Organization: Springs Capital


Sidney Ma is the Head of Investor Relations for Springs Capital. He has been in the financial industry since 2005 and he joined Springs Capital in March 2013. Previously, he worked at CICC Asset Management, Frontier Asia Capital, Adept Capital and Astor Securities specializing in capital raising. He originates from Hong Kong and was educated in the UK from an early age. An alumnus of Cass Business School (MSc Management), Sidney also possesses a Bachelor of Sciences from University College London (UCL).


Joon Park


Joon Park is the Chief Operating Officer – Investment Management at Alyeska Investment Group, L.P. Alyeska is a 5Bn Fundamental Equity Market Neutral Firm. Prior to joining Alyeska, Mr. Park served at Citadel Investment Group for 6 years, where he was Deputy COO of the Global Equities Division. Prior to joining Citadel, Mr. Park served at Merrill Lynch where he was a Vice President in their Global Securities Research & Economics department. Mr. Park has also worked at Deloitte Consulting and Andersen Consulting. Mr. Park graduated with a MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.


John Richardson


John Richardson, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Ionic Capital Management® LLC. John joined Ionic before it launched in 2006 and oversees all non-investment related aspects of the firm. Prior to joining Ionic, John was a senior attorney in the hedge fund practice group at Bingham McCutchen LLP in NY. John’s practice focused on counseling investment advisers in connection with the formation and management of private investment funds. John obtained a JD from the University of South Carolina, cum laude, and a BS in Business Administration from the College of Charleston, cum laude.
