The Executive Committee of CAIA Hong Kong Chapter would like to invite you to attend our next education event on Monday, 30 October, 2017.
 
Commodities have recovered from their trough in the past few years but where are they positioned now? What role can commodities play in portfolio? Managed Futures originated from commodities trading but now have evolved far beyond that. However, as a strategy, managed futures have not outperformed the other hedge fund strategies in recent years. Do they still deserve a place in a portfolio? And how should investors differentiate among various managed futures managers? Let’s hear from the industry practioners on their thoughts.

Sebastien is a portfolio manager at Three Stones Capital, a Hong Kong based multi-strategy hedge fund. Prior to that, he was Head of Trading and Research at 金富資產管理 in Hong Kong, from 2013 to 2015, where he developed managed futures strategies and he started the fund-of-fund business of the company. Before moving to the buy-side, Sebastien was a quantitative trader in Societe Generale's Proprietary Trading team in Asia from 2004 to 2012, focusing on systematic, multi-frequency trading strategies on options, futures and equities worldwide. Sebastien holds a Master of Science in Financial Engineering from the University of Michigan, USA, is a graduate from Ecole Superieure d'Electricite in France, where he is regularly invited as a guest lecturer, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Universite Paris-Sud, France. He is also a Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst.


Jodie M. Gunzberg

Jodie M. Gunzberg is Managing Director, Product Management, at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI). She heads product management for the commodity, real asset, housing, defined contribution, and strategic futures indices, which include the S&P GSCI, Dow Jones Commodity Index (DJCI), S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Home Price Indices, S&P Real Assets Index, S&P Target Date Indices, S&P Shift to Retirement Income and Decumulation (STRIDE) Indices, and S&P Strategic Futures Index. These indices are leading measures of commodities, U.S. residential real estate prices, composite real assets, and multi-asset futures indices. Prior to joining S&P DJI in 2010, Jodie built quantitative models for security selection, asset allocation, and risk management, specializing in alternatives on the buy-side and in investment consulting. Most recently, Jodie was the chief investment strategist for Marco Consulting. In this role, she oversaw more than 350 plans, ranging in size from USD 10 million to USD 13 billion and totaling more than USD 85 billion in assets. Jodie has published many industry pieces on hedge funds and commodity investing and is a frequent speaker and moderator. Jodie has given briefings to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives and has participated in national think tanks. She is commonly quoted by the press and has been a guest on BloombergTV, BNN, CNBC, Fox Business, Reuters, Sky News, Channel NewsAsia, ETNow, and CCTV2. Jodie is a CFA charterholder, as well as a member and curriculum consultant of the CFA Institute. She is also a former member of the Board of Directors for NYSSA and CFA Chicago. Jodie currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Department of Finance of Hofstra University and the Editorial Advisory Board for J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities at the University of Colorado. She received her MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business, and earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Emory University.


Scott D. Peterman

Scott focuses on representing private fund sponsors and investors in the formation of alternative investment vehicles, including pan-Asian private equity funds, venture capital funds, infrastructure and real estate funds, private REITs, hedge funds, hybrid funds, emerging manager platform funds, Hong Kong authorized funds, and emerging market ETFs.
