CAIA New York : The Democratization of Alternatives:
Regulation, Product Design, Technology and Other New Innovations

With global alternative assets under management currently at $10 trillion and forecasted to exceed $14 trillion by 2023, many observers foresee a significant portion of that growth coming from private individuals, both High Net-Worth and Mass Affluent. These investors could benefit from greater exposure to alternative assets in their portfolios but there are existing barriers to entry relative to institutional allocators of capital.

This panel will analyze the various innovations underway to create a level playing field for the private investor. It will also assess the risks and benefits of greater democratization of access. We will discuss ongoing regulatory initiatives, developments in investment products and vehicles, technology innovations, crowdfunding and more.
