CAIA New York and GARP New York present: Managing Investment Risks and Pursuing Downside Protection in Unprecedented Times Wednesday, July 19, 2023
More than a decade of historically low interest rates forced investors to load their portfolios with risky securities. As the Fed had to raise interest rates lot more than the market expected given persistent inflation and a strong labor market, a year of rising interest rates exposed cracks in global financial conditions. In a market replete with extreme events and great uncertainty, should asset managers, insurance companies, and pension funds stay the risk management course or take additional proactive, protective actions? Please join us for the June GARP New York Chapter meeting as a panel of world-class investment risk experts discuss the challenging investment environment and emerging issues including:
- How risk managers can examine investment risks through different risk lenses
- How investment professionals and risk managers should respond to volatility during extraordinary market turbulence
- The most important aspects of diversification when pursuing downside protection
- The pros and cons of static asset allocation (SAA) vs. dynamic asset allocation (DAA) in the current investment environment
- Risks and opportunities of optimizing alternative investment assets
