This event is organized in collaboration with CFA Society Switzerland. Private debt has experienced remarkable growth as one of the most rapidly expanding alternative investments over the past decade. With assets under management nearly reaching $1.8 trillion in 2022, the sector is poised for further expansion, projected to surpass $2.7 trillion by 2027, according to estimates by Preqin. This surge in private credit has been propelled by regulatory responses to the global financial crisis, which curbed banks' risk appetite and paved the way for nonbank financial institutions to seize opportunities in the private debt market. Furthermore, the landscape of available investment strategies has undergone significant transformation. While distressed, mezzanine, and real estate debt once dominated the sector, it has since evolved to offer a broader array of instruments. Although direct lending remains prominent, new avenues have emerged, diversifying the investment landscape.
