With institutional investors around the globe seeking both new sources of real, uncorrelated returns, their allocations to alternative assets have continued to steadily increase. Most notably, renewable power sources such as wind and solar, are becoming a significant and growing portion of not only the world's energy supply sources, but also one of the most active sectors for infrastructure investment, with total transactions recorded over the five years approaching the $300 billion dollar mark in 2015.

The main drivers of this growth are dramatic improvements in the cost-competitiveness of wind and solar power and ambitious government targets for renewable energy sources, with North America and Europe comprising the two most active geographies for institutional investors, with several newer emerging markets also beginning to develop.

 Panelists:
Jeffrey Berman, Managing Director, BlackRock Alternative Specialists
Bas Van Berkel, President, Berq Capital
