Frank Barbarino
Organization: NYC Office of the Comptroller


Mr. Barbarino is a Senior Investment Officer for Alternative Credit in the Bureau of Asset Management, NYC Office of the Comptroller. In this role, his responsibilities include working with managers to implement investment strategies within the Alternative Credit portfolio, oversight of portfolio performance and risk, conducting research on investment themes, and performing due diligence on prospective managers. Prior to his current role, Mr. Barbarino was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs in the Prime Services group, where he led the development of hedge fund related analysis and content. Before this, he was a Principal and Investment Strategist at The Carlyle Group where he worked with the private credit team and communicated investment strategy and themes to institutional investors. Mr. Barbarino was also a Senior Research Consultant at NEPC, where he advised institutional investors on alternative investment plan development, portfolio construction, manager due diligence and monitoring, and a Senior Hedge Fund Analyst for the fund of funds subsidiary of Nationwide Insurance Company. Mr. Barbarino received an M.B.A with a concentration in Finance from the University of Rochester, Simon School and earned a B.A. from Union College with majors in Economics and Music. He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designee and holds Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses.


Mark Johnson
Organization: Cliffwater, LLC


Mark is a Senior Managing Director of Cliffwater LLC in our New York office and a member of our portfolio advisory team. Prior to joining Cliffwater in 2013, Mark was a Managing Director at Brown Brothers Harriman, where he was head of alternative investments and oversaw the investment manager and strategy research group. While at BBH, Mark was also a principal of the firm’s mezzanine investment team and served on the firm’s private equity investment and credit committees. Previous experience includes senior lending at BBH and investment banking at Bankers Trust Company. Mark earned an AB degree, cum laude, in Economics from Amherst College, and holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst® designation.


Edgar Lee
Organization: Oaktree Capital


Mr. Lee serves as the portfolio manager for Oaktree’s Strategic Credit strategy. He is also the CEO and CIO of Oaktree Specialty Lending and Oaktree Strategic Income Corporations. Previously, he was an investment professional within the firm’s Distressed Debt group and led a number of the group's investments in the media, technology and telecom industries. Prior to joining Oaktree in 2007, Mr. Lee worked within the Investment Banking division at UBS Investment Bank in Los Angeles, where he was responsible for advising clients on a number of debt and preferred stock restructurings, leveraged financings, buy-side and sell-side M&A, mezzanine financings and recapitalizations. Before that, Mr. Lee was employed within the Fixed Income division at Lehman Brothers Inc. Prior experience includes work at Katzenbach Partners LLP and the Urban Institute. He received a B.A. degree in economics from Swarthmore College and an M.P.P. with a concentration in applied economics from Harvard University. Mr. Lee serves as a director of Neo Performance Materials and previously served on the boards of Nine Entertainment and Charter Communications.


Jonathan Mandle
Organization: Corrum Capital Management LLC


Jonathan Mandle, CFA is Co-Managing Partner and an Investment Committee Member at Corrum Capital Management LLC. Prior to founding Corrum Capital, Jonathan was a Managing Director and the Head of Absolute Return and Credit at an affiliate of Bank of America. Previously, he was a Director at the University of California, Office of the Treasurer of the Regents, where he managed multi-billion dollar absolute return and opportunistic portfolio with a global mandate. Prior to that, he built and managed customized investment portfolios for pension and endowment clients at New England Pension Consultants. Jonathan began his career as a Research Associate focused on domestic and international equity and fixed income strategies at Fidelity Investments. He currently is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Peace First, is an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco, and is an Investment Committee member for the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. Jonathan received a BS and an MBA from Boston College and is a CFA Charterholder.


Jon Rotolo
Organization: Babson Capital Management


Jonathan Rotolo is a member of Barings Alternative Investments. Jon is the Head of the Private Equity / Real Assets team and also serves as chairman of the investment committee. Jon has worked in the industry since 1997. Prior to joining the firm in 2005, Jon worked at State Street Corporation in State Street's Strategic Alliances business. Jon graduated from Hamilton College with a B.A. in Psychobiology. He also holds a Master of Science in Investment Management from the Boston University School of Management and has an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. At Tuck, Jon was an Edward Tuck Scholar and a Research Fellow at the school's Private Equity Research Center. Jon is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Securities Analyst Society.
