Real estate investing offers many opportunities across different markets and regions; multiple approaches are possible from core to value add/opportunistic.
With our expert panel we will share thoughts and views on the characteristics of these approaches with their benefits and limitations, liquidity implications (open end versus closed end vehicles), ESG considerations and with an eye on expected performance in different regions and through an economic cycle.

Dimitri Doublet, Fund Management Director of the  M&G European Property Fund
Dimitri Doublet is Fund Management Director of the  M&G European Property Fund. Dimitri joined M&G Real Estate in January 2016 from InternosGlobal Investors, where he was a portfolio and transaction manager specialising in French properties. Prior to that he worked for InvistaREIM and before that AkelerProperty Developments Ltd .Dimitri holds a BSc honoursdegree in Business Administration from the University of Montpellier, France and speaks French and English. He is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS).
 
Luke Powell, Senior Investment Specialist, Aberdeen Standard Investments
Luke Powell is a Senior Investment Specialist for real estate within Aberdeen Standard Investments’ Global Investment Specialists team. This team is the key contact point between investment and distribution. Luke has particular responsibility for a number of pan-European funds, including the European Long Income Real Estate Fund and the European Real Estate Club series of value-added funds. Luke also has oversight of Aberdeen Standard Investments’ UK open-ended institutional fund offering. Luke is also the primary contact point between Aberdeen Standard Investments and the many clients that the company has in the real estate multi-manager market.Luke began his investment career in 1994 in the private equity team at NatWest Markets. After a period in academia, he returned to the investment industry in 2004, when he joined the research and strategy team at DTZ (now part of Cushman & Wakefield), the global real estate brokerage. Prior to joining the company in 2014, Luke worked for seven years as a real estate investment specialist at Aviva Investors. Luke has nearly five years’ experience with Aberdeen Standard Investments and 17 years’ experience in the industry.Luke holds a BA (Hons) in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and an MPhil in European Politics and Society, both from the University of Oxford, as well as the Investment Management Certificate (IMC). As part of his MPhil, Luke also studied at the University of Bonn in Germany and, as a result, he is a fluent German speaker.
 
Philip Signer, Assistant Vice President, Credit Suisse
Philip Signer, Assistant Vice President, is an Associate Portfolio Manager in the Indirect Real Estate team. He holds a master's degree in Banking and Finance from the University of St.Gallen (HSG) and is a CFA Charterholder. Before he joined Credit Suisse he was an Investment Performance Analyst in the Investment Management department of Zurich Insurance Group. In 2015, he moved to Credit Suisse, where he was initially responsible for portfolio construction and portfolio optimisation of multi-asset-class portfolios of advisory clients in the Investment Solutions and Products department.
 
Philip P. Sigrist, Principal, Senior Investment Consultant, Mercer Schweiz AG
Philipp Sigrist, Principal, is Senior Investment Consultant in Mercer's Investment Consulting business (Switzerland). He has over 18 years experience in the financial sector, including in project management, risk management and over 13 years in the field of institutional clients as a client advisor and investment consultant.
His main tasks are the management of key account customers, development of optimal investment strategies and structures, the selection and monitoring of asset managers as well as the seat on investment committees and the implementation of training. Philipp Sigrist studied at the University of Zurich business administration with concentration in Finance and graduated with honers to Master of Arts UZH (Lic. Oec. Publ.) in 2001.

Paola Bissoli, Co-Head of CAIA Zurich Chapter and Director, Business Development, Aberdeen Standard Investments
Paola joined Aberdeen Standard Investments as a result of the merger between Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life in August 2017. She joined Aberdeen in 2015 from Saint George Capital Management (UnipolSAI Assicurazioni, formerly Fondiaria-SAI Group) where she was CEO and Hedge Fund Manager. Previously, Paola worked as Hedge Fund Manager for Banca Gesfid (Fondiaria-SAI Group), Vicos SA, Banca Zarattini &CO.Paola graduated with a MSc in Chemical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (1998). She is a CAIA charter-holder since 2008. Paola has set-up with like minded industry colleagues the Lugano-Milano chapter of 100 Women in Finance in 2010 and has been a director of the London board of the association from 2013 to 2018.
