Aimee Hirata
Organization: BlackRock Alternative Advisors
Aimee Hirata, Managing Director, is global head of Product Strategy for BlackRock Alternative Advisors (BAA). BAA comprises the firm's Hedge Fund Solutions team, which manages over $21 billion in external hedge fund and co-investment assets. Ms. Hirata is a member of the BAA Management Committee and is responsible for leading product strategy, marketing and client service across BAA.
Ms. Hirata's service with the firm dates back to 2001, including her years with Quellos Group, LLC, of which the alternative investment management business was acquired by BlackRock in 2007. At Quellos, Ms. Hirata served as an Associate Director focused on client consulting and capital markets research. From 1998 to 2001, she was a senior analyst at Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, consulting to major Midwest corporations, endowments, foundations, pension funds and Taft-Hartley clients. While at Slocum, Ms. Hirata had the added responsibility of co-leading the firm's pension research team, specializing in benefit plan investment allocation.
Ms. Hirata earned a BS degree in business administration with a double major in management and marketing from Creighton University in 1996.
Jeffrey Klein
Organization: Aptitude Investment Management
Jeff is a founding partner of Aptitude Investment Management LP. In his role as Deputy Chief Investment
Officer and Chief Executive Officer, he is responsible for investment strategy and governance, hedge fund
portfolio construction, and conducting asset allocation and asset liability studies. He is also responsible for
Aptitude’s business strategy and overall operations. Jeff has 27 years of investment experience.
Prior to his role with Aptitude Investment Management LP, Jeff served in a similar role as the Portfolio
Manager and Deputy Chief Investment Officer of Weyerhaeuser Asset Management LLC since 2004. In that
capacity, he developed guidelines and conducted asset allocation and asset liability studies that led to
pension trust investment structure and policy. He was responsible for integration, revision and
development of the hedge fund portfolio from externally managed to internally managed.
Prior to joining Weyerhaeuser Company, Jeff was the National Practice Director for Watson Wyatt
Investment Consulting in Canada. He had previously served as a Senior Consultant and Practice Leader as
well as a Pension and Investment Consultant with Watson Wyatt Investment Consulting in Canada. Before
joining Watson Wyatt Investment Consulting in Canada, Jeff held positions with Southern Life Association
in Cape Town, South African and with Legal and General Assurance Company in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Jeff holds a Bachelor of Business Science with Honours from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, a
Certificate of Finance and Investment from the Institute of Actuaries, UK, and is a Fellow of the Institute of
Actuaries, London, and Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
Albert Matriotti
Organization: BlackRock Alternative Advisors
Albert Matriotti, Managing Director, is a member of BlackRock Alternative Advisors (BAA), the firm's Hedge Fund Solutions team. Mr. Matriotti is responsible for evaluating and communicating the causal factors that drive risk in each hedge fund and fund of funds portfolio. In addition, he is responsible for sponsoring internal system developments for a suite of proprietary systems that allow users to integrate and analyze all forms of risk transparency.
Mr. Matriotti's service with the firm dates back to 2002, including his years at Quellos Group, LLC, of which the alternative investment management business was acquired by BlackRock in 2007. At Quellos, he was an Associate Director focused on risk management and portfolio analytics.
Mr. Matriotti earned his bachelor’s degree with a concentration in finance from Seattle University in 2002.
