Join Gibson Smith, Founder of Smith Capital Investors and Laton Spahr, President and Portfolio Manager, SS&C ALPS Advisors Gibson Smith Laton Spahr Laton and Gibson are looking forward to sharing their perspectives, stories and ideas around investment and wealth management and challenging conventional wisdom of what’s next for markets and investors. After the discussion, meet and mingle with other local investment professionals. Drinks and light fare will be provided. This event is complimentary and open to all. Since we have limited capacity, we ask that you please register as early as possible to reserve your spot. After more than 25 years in leadership positions at Morgan Stanley and Janus Henderson, two of the largest investment institutions in the country, Gibson made the leap to build his own asset management firm from the ground up. Moving against the tide of consolidation and multi-trillion-dollar asset managers, Gibson’s decision to start fresh forced him to evaluate the reinvention of everything.
Similarly, in 2019 Laton shifted his career after 21 years as a Portfolio Manager at OppenheimerFunds and ColumbiaThreadneedle to lead SS&C ALPS Advisors. Changing focus from pure investment decision making to industry strategy and wealth management innovation required fresh perspectives and a willingness to bet big.
