The drawdown of both stocks and bonds coupled with geopolitical and financial market turbulence since the beginning of 2022 has made the case for inclusion of alternatives in portfolios stronger than ever before. The CAIA Boston Chapter is delighted to present this special event where CAIA’s own Aaron Filbeck will kick off with a presentation of the association’s “Portfolio for the Future” followed by a distinguished panel of leading asset allocators and managers who will cover the current state and outlook for various alternative asset classes.

Michel Degosciu
Organization: LPX AG


Michel Degosciu is managing partner of LPX AG. He co-founded LPX in 2004 and is responsible for Business Development. Prior to LPX, Michel conducted various studies on the private equity asset class at the Department of Finance, University of Basel. He holds a master degree with a major in Corporate Finance from WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management and a PhD from University of Basel.


Doug Dummer
Organization: Wellington Management Company LLP


Doug Dummer is an investment director in Investment Product & Fund Strategies (IPFS). IPFS oversees certain Wellington-managed fund vehicles that pursue alternative investment strategies. The IPFS Team serves as fund sponsor for several alternative funds, overseeing fund governance, product development, marketing, and operations, and servicing fund investors. IPFS also coordinates the strategy and messaging around the firm’s full range of alternative investment capabilities. Prior to joining Wellington Management in 2016, Doug was the founder and portfolio manager at Saddle Ridge Partners, a technology-focused hedge fund (2012 – 2015). Previously, he was an equity research analyst at Alydar Capital, a Boston-based hedge fund (2004 – 2011), as well as John Hancock Funds (2003 – 2004) and Neuberger Berman Management (2000 – 2002). Earlier in his career, he was a fixed income analyst in the High Yield Municipal Bond Group at Eaton Vance Management (1994 – 1998). Doug earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (2000) and his BA from the University of New Hampshire (1991). Additionally, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Society Boston and the CFA Institute.


Aaron Filbeck
Organization: CAIA Association


As Managing Director and Head of UniFi by CAIA™ , Aaron oversees content and product strategy for the UniFi by CAIA™ Program. Prior to this, Aaron was responsible for the strategic direction of CAIA Association's content agenda, thought leadership, and member education initiatives, and supported content development for the CAIA Charter Program. His work has been published by Oxford University Press and The Journal of Investing, and covers topics such as ESG/sustainable investing, liquid alternatives, commodities, and asset pricing/factor investing. He is a frequent writer and speaker on these topics. Aaron’s practitioner experience lies in private wealth management, where he served as portfolio manager, overseeing asset allocation, portfolio construction, and manager research efforts for high-net-worth individuals and institutional retirement plans. He earned a B.S. with distinction in Finance and a Master of Finance from Penn State University. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM), Financial Data Professional (FDP) designations, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and holds the the CFA Institute's Certificate in ESG Investing. He is a Past President of CFA Society Columbus and serves on the CFA Society Philadelphia Programs Committee. Aaron is an adjunct professor and serves on multiple advisory boards for Penn State University.


Jon Glass
Organization: Marathon Asset Management


Jonathan Glass is a Managing Director, responsible for the firm’s business development, product development, capital raising and client service activities, focused on leading private wealth and intermediary platforms, high net worth individuals and registered investment advisors (RIAs). Prior to joining Marathon, Mr. Glass worked as a Director at FS Investments (fka Franklin Square) on the Product Development team, where he was responsible for researching, designing, and launching alternative credit investment offerings. Before FS Investments, Mr. Glass worked as an Associate in BlackRock’s alternatives division where he helped position and sell the firm’s hedge fund and private equity strategies across their global institutional client base. Mr. Glass began his career as a fixed income sales and trading analyst at Royal Bank of Scotland. He holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan.


Eric Menzer
Organization: Manulife Investment Management


Eric Menzer, CFA, CAIA, AIF Global Head of OCIO and Fiduciary Solutions, Multi-Asset Solutions Team, Manulife Investment Management Eric is a senior portfolio manager with oversight of pension, OCIO, model, advisory, and real asset solutions and is a member of the investment committees for Manulife’s U.S. and Canadian employee defined benefit and defined contribution plans. Eric holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations and is a member of the CFA Society Boston and the CFA Institute. He also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies. Eric sits on the investment committee for Bentley University’s Endowment Fund and is an insurance and advisory board member for AIF Global.


Dulari Pancholi
Organization: New England Pension Consultants (NEPC)


Dulari’s investment career began in 2000 and she joined NEPC in 2006. She is the Head of Credit and Multi-Asset Investment Group at NEPC. Dulari is also the Co-Head of NEPC’s Impact Investing Committee. As a research team leader, Dulari is a member of multiple investment committees and serves as the Co-Head of the Credit Beta Group. Dulari is also frequent speaker at industry conferences on the topic of Impact Investing. Prior to joining NEPC in August of 2006, Dulari was Vice President of Operations of the Hedge Fund at Venus Capital Management. Prior to that, Dulari was employed as a Research Associate at the Center for International Securities and Derivatives Market (CISDM). As a Research Associate, Dulari's responsibilities included understanding various databases, statistical models, software and analytical tools used for efficient financial analysis. While at CISDM, Dulari authored and co-authored several research papers, one of which was published in the Journal of Alternative Investments in the Spring of 2004. Dulari received her M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and holds L.L.B. and B.S. degrees from the University of Mumbai. Dulari has attained both of the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations. She is also a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society. She has recently completed the Sustainable Finance program at Yale SOM Executive Education.
