Event Profile

The State of Capital Markets | The Evolution of Fintech

Date(s):
September 15, 2020
Event Details:

Adoption of digital technologies has been given a kick start by the recent global health emergency. Shopping, entertainment, and communication technologies that have been around for some years are much more broadly adopted.

Digital financial technology adoption has been much slower. Despite clear evidence that the financial business models are obsolete and still now, with over a decade of value destruction by traditional financial institutions, laws and regulations sustain the old ways.

Join us for a discussion of the fintech revolution and the evolving path to adoption. It is clear from the remarkable global coordination of central bank policy in the now third wave of financial crisis, that governments have a fashioned a policy response that has calmed financial markets and kept markets functioning. This global coordination has been managed more cohesively and more effectively than any other global policy initiative and certainly more effectively than global health policy.

It has also propped up the very antique financial institutions that fintech intends to disrupt making them ever more powerful and protected. This protection comes at a huge cost and now, more than ever, with the digital revolution bolting ahead, there is pressure to give fintech more freedom. Our panelists will discuss the current state of global fintech, illuminate the likely path to adoption and speculate on the effect that will have on our relationships with financial institutions, with the internet and with each other.

Be sure to join the discussion on September 15 to hear from the expert lineup of speakers, including CAIA's very own CEO, Bill Kelly.
