The US China annual investment conference co-organized by the Boston Chinese Investment Club (BCIC), CFA Society Beijing, and the CAIA association will be held online from Oct 1-4, 7pm to 9pm EST. The conference will bring together investment professionals and scholars from top institutions in China and the U.S. Through talks and panel discussions, we will explore the opportunities and challenges in investing in China, covering topics from US election, macro overview, asset allocation, pandemic and healthcare, technology, ESG investing and etc. There will be multiple rounds of lottery draws during the conference for prizes including two CAIA Global Gateway Scholarships and one year of VIP access to WIND financial data platform (and more to come). John L. Bowman, CFA, Senior Managing Director, the CAIA Association
John serves as Senior Managing Director for the CAIA Association, overseeing the industry leading CAIA charter, thought leadership and content development, and CAIA's Asia Pacific strategy. John previously served as Managing Director for the Americas for CFA Institute, a region comprised of 40+ countries from Canada, the U.S., Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Bowman joined CFA Institute in 2004 after holding several industry positions. He served as a portfolio manager at Mellon Growth Advisors (MGA), where he was responsible for portfolio construction and stock selection for the MGA International Growth and MGA Global Growth strategies. Bowman also served as a portfolio manager for the International Growth Opportunities Strategy at State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) in its Global Fundamental Strategies Group.


Libby Cantrill
Managing Director and the Head of Public Policy, PIMCO
Ms. Cantrill is a managing director and the head of public policy for PIMCO. In her role, she helps to coordinate the firm’s response to public policy issues and analyzes policy and political risk for the firm’s Investment Committee. She is also a member of the firm’s Americas Portfolio Committee. Additionally, she is the co-head of PIMCO’s New York Office and is a founding member of PIMCO Parents and PIMCO Women. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2007, she served as a legislative aide in the House of Representatives and also worked in the investment banking division at Morgan Stanley. She has 16 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and received her undergraduate degree in economics from Brown University. Ms. Cantrill is a CFA charterholder and a regular contributor to Bloomberg and CNBC. She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.


Jian Chen (陈剑)
Phd, Founder and CEO of CreditWise Technologies
Dr. Jian Chen is the founder and CEO of CreditWise Technologies, Co. Ltd. He also serves as the senior advisor of MSCI’s China business, the committee chair of the information disclosure committee of China Securitization Forum, and the senior advisor of Caixin Insight Group, a prestigious think tank in China. He previously held the positions of Managing Partner of RQuest Financial Services Group, Managing Director in IFE Group, Risk Modeling Director in Freddie Mac, Director of Credit Risk Management in Fannie Mae. He recently created the COVID-19 Global Risk Index (http://covid19-risk-index.com/) to assess the risk of each country in the pandemic, together with Dr. Zhang, Wenhong of Huashang Hospital.


Hua Cheng

Phd, CFA, Portfolio Manager, Mirova US*
Hua Cheng, CFA, PhD, is a Portfolio Manager with Mirova US, which he joined in 2018. Prior to joining Mirova US, he was a portfolio manager with Mirova, which he joined in 2014. Prior to joining Mirova, Dr. Cheng was portfolio manager at Vega Investment Managers from 2007 to 2014. Dr. Cheng holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University Paris Dauphine (France). He holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst and has over 15 years of investment experience.


Tony Crescenzi
CFA, Executive Vice President, Portfolio Manager, PIMCO
Mr. Crescenzi is an executive vice president, market strategist and generalist portfolio manager in the New York office. He is also a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2009, he was chief bond market strategist at Miller Tabak, and worked for both Lehman Brothers and Prudential Bache. Mr. Crescenzi has written five books, including "The Strategic Bond Investor" and "Beyond the Keynesian Endpoint." He regularly appears on CNBC and Bloomberg television and in financial news media. Mr. Crescenzi taught in the executive MBA program at Baruch College from 1999-2009. He has 37 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from St. John's University and an undergraduate degree from the City University of New York.


Lillian Lin
Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager, PIMCO
Ms. Lin is a senior vice president and investment grade portfolio manager in the Newport Beach office and a member of PIMCO’s Americas portfolio committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2014, she worked in fixed income portfolio analysis at Harvard Management Company and was a FICC (fixed income, commodities and currencies) derivatives trader at UBS. She holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and an undergraduate degree from Peking University with a major in mathematics and a minor in economics. In 2007, she was ranked as the top student among 10k students in Beijing in the college entrance examination(高考状元). She is the co-author of a book also written in 2007 on achieving success.


Mengyao Lu
CPA, Partner, Ernst & Young Hua Ming
Ms. Lu has over 15 years of professional experiences in accounting and financial reporting, serving clients in both China and the U.S. at various stages ranging from start-ups to large market-cap listed companies in deals of equity and debt offerings, carve-outs, merge and
acquisitions. Using her expertise in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, SOX 404 compliance
and PCAOB audits, Ms. Lu processes extensive experiences in solving complex accounting
and finance issues that are commonly encountered by the China concept companies during their IPOs in the U.S. capital markets. Prior to joining EY Shanghai office, Ms. Lu also spent two years at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission seeking to ensure that investors are provided with material information in order to make informed investment decisions, both when a company initially offers its securities to the public and on an ongoing basis as it continues to
give information to the marketplace.


Bin Shi (石彬)
Phd, CFA, Portfolio Manager, Acadian Asset Management
Dr. Bin Shi is a Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager of Research, and Quantitative Research Analyst at Acadian Asset Management. Dr. Shi has a background in time series forecasting, machine learning, and statistical modeling. Prior to that, he worked at Mathworks as a Statistician. Dr. Shi has over 14 years of extensive quantitative investment experience.


Bill Smith
CFA, Executive Vice President, Portfolio Manager, PIMCO
Mr. Smith is an executive vice president and portfolio manager in the Newport Beach office, focusing primarily on global equities within PIMCO’s global macro hedge fund strategies. He is a member of the Americas portfolio committee and has served as a rotating member of PIMCO's Investment Committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2018, he was a partner at Partner Fund Management (PFM) and a senior member of the investment team focused on macro research and portfolio risk management. Mr. Smith previously worked at Morgan Stanley, where he was a member of the U.S. investment strategy team and worked on the index equity derivatives trading desk. He has 17 years of investment experience and holds an undergraduate degree in international business and finance from Loyola University Maryland. He has passed all three levels of the CFA program.


Yan Wang
CFA, Partner and the Chief Emerging Markets & China Strategist, Alpine Macro
Yan Wang is a Partner and the Chief Emerging Markets & China Strategist. Prior to joining Alpine Macro in 2018, Yan spent 15 years at BCA Research, as the Chief Strategist for BCA’s China Investment Strategy service, and played a major role in formulating BCA’s view on the Greater China region and emerging Asia. Prior to joining BCA, he spent six years as an equity analyst in China and Hong Kong. Yan holds an MBA in Finance from McGill University, an M.A. in Economics from Tianjin Institute of Finance and a B.A. in Finance from Nankai University. He also holds the CFA designation.

Min Ye is the author of The Belt, Road and Beyond: State-Mobilized Globalization in China 1998-2018 (Cambridge University Press 2020), Diasporas and Foreign Direct Investment in China and India (Cambridge University Press 2014), and the Making of Northeast Asia (with Kent Calder, Stanford University Press, 2020). Her articles, “Fragmentation and Mobilization: Domestic Politics of China’s Belt and Road”, “Competing Cooperation in Asia Pacific: TPP, RCEP, and the New Silk Road”, and “Conditions and Utility of Diffusion by Diasporas” have appeared in Journal of Contemporary China, Journal of Journal Asian Studies, and Journal of East Asian Studies.


Yidong Zhang 张忆东
Chief Macro Strategist, Industrial Securities Co. Ltd.
Mr. Yidong Zhang is the Global Chief Strategist, Deputy Head of Research Institute and Head of Overseas Research Department of Industrial Securities Co., Ltd. (601377.SH). Mr. Zhang is also the Deputy CEO of China Industrial Securities International Financial Groups Limited. (6058.HK). Prior to joining Industrial Securities in 2006, Mr. Zhang has worked in Polaris Securities (Taiwan) from 2002-2006. Mr. Zhang received his master’s degree from Fudan University, and EMBA degree from Shanghai Advance Institute of Finance of Shanghai Jiaotong University.
